Crispy Croutons

CRISPY CROUTONS
Croutons are an ideal accompaniment to sprinkle over salads and soups - they add an interesting crunchy texture as well as flavour.

2 thick slices white bread, cubed
1 tbsp olive oil

 

Put the cubes of bread in a bowl, drizzle with olive oil and toss until evenly coated. Tip out onto a baking tray and bake in preheated oven at 190C/375F/Gas 5 until golden and crisp on all sides, around 10 minutes. Leave to cool.

Tip ~ Check the bread occasionally whilst cooking to see it doesn't burn.
